Comrade Provash Ghosh, General Secretary, Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist), issued the following statement in regard to the petrol-diesel price hike on 1 March 2015:-
Yesterday BJP-led central government placed anti-people and corporate-friendly union budget for the year 2015-16 at Parliament. At midnight the government again gave a blow to the people by announcing exorbitant hike in petrol-diesel prices. Already the Modi government has increased service tax in the budget and for that transporting, electricity charges and prices of essential commodities will be increased. This increase in the prices of petrol/diesel will add further woe to the people.
We vehemently oppose this most sinister move on the part of the BJP government to raise the petrol-diesel price. We once again urge the people to come forward to organize countrywide powerful mass movements to foil this heinous conspiracy of the ruling bourgeoisie class and its government.
