At the call of All India Jan Adhikar Suraksha Committee [Committee for the Protection of the Rights of the People], first West Bengal State Conference of the ruthlessly exploited poor tribal people, forest-dwellers over generations and other sections of backward underprivileged people and exploited people, was held on 6 November 2022 at the historic Indian Association Hall, Kolkata. The conference, among other issues, strongly demanded ‘no eviction’ of tribal people and forest dwellers from their natural habitations and decided to intensify legitimate movements of all sections of backward people. Committee also announced elaborate preparations for holding the upcoming all India Conference to be held in Purulia from 3 to 5 February 2023.
