While congratulating the working community of the country for making today’s All India General Strike a success Sri Sankar Saha, General Secretary of AIUTUC has issued the following statement on 08 January, 2020.
“We congratulate the working millions of the country who prepared for and participated in the General Strike today for realizing their 12 point vital demands and for scrapping NRC, CAA & NPR designed to divide the working class on the basis of religion. More than 300 million workers have actively participated in the strike and the Union Government should take note of this and immediately reverse its anti-people and anti-worker policy and declare that NRC, CAA & NPR will be scrapped.
We urge the working fraternity to close all rank & file and prepare for a greater fight against all capitalist onslaughts.
We demand of the Govt. to release unconditionally all members and supporters who have been taken into police custody today in connection with the General Strike from state headquarters like Kolkata, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar.”
