In the recent Students’ Union election in Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal Central University, AIDSO won both the seats it contested. Comrade Ranjana won the post of Joint Secretary by defeating her nearest ABVP contestant by a margin of 2050 votes and Comrade Monika Chauhan won the post of Girls’ Representative uncontested.
While representatives of other student groups widely used money and muscle power to win few seats in the elections and were completely silent on the real issues of students in the campuses and education, AIDSO fought this election on several just demands of the students.
The winning AIDSO candidates were also felicitated by eminent citizens.
