To
Comrade Imdad Qazi,
Secretary, Communist Party of Pakistan
Dear Comrade,
Though we had earnest desire to send our representatives to your Party Congress, non-availability of visa has stood in the way. However, it gives us immense pleasure to find that notwithstanding the extremely hostile and repressive environment, in which, not to speak of revolutionary activities, even normal democratic activities are extremely difficult, the Communist Party of Pakistan is boldly upholding the banner of Marxism Leninism on the soil of Pakistan.
Dear Comrades, the time when you are holding your important Congress, the world imperialist-capitalist system including India and Pakistan is in deep economic-political-social and cultural crises. Unprecedented economic hardship in the lives of people is giving birth to extreme resentment forcing them to come out in the streets even face brutal repression in both developed and undeveloped capitalist countries. Waves of protest by different sections of the toiling masses have now been the order of the day. In order to divert attention of the masses and engage them in fratricidal conflicts, the ruling classes everywhere has been fomenting ultra-nationalism, racialism, ethnic-religious-linguistic divisions and engendering war tension and regional wars. Despite this conspiracy of the ruling class, waves of mass protests are bursting forth even in USA and European imperialist countries. But because of the absence of proper and organized communist leadership to lead these mass protests to logical culmination, the protests are fizzling out.
After the Second World War and with the victory of Soviet Union under the leadership of Great Stalin, there was a tremendous surge of anti-imperialist freedom movement and liberation struggles in colonial and semi-colonial countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America and working class struggles in the metropolitan capitalist countries. The victory of revolution in China under the leadership of Great Mao gave further fillip to all the communist parties and forces in the world. In this backdrop, Great Stalin expired in 1953. Then came the 20th congress of CPSU in 1956 where renegade Khrushchev, in the name of fighting the cult of personality, hurled attacks against Great Stalin. Comrade Shibdas Ghosh, our Party’s Founder General secretary and an eminent Marxist thinker of this era, warned in 1956 itself that by these attacks, CPSU under Khrushchev was undermining the authority of Great Stalin which would virtually uncrown Great Lenin and emasculate Leninism of its revolutionary teachings which would ideologically pave the way for the sway of revisionism. That ultimately led to the counter-revolution in Soviet Union and China. But our Party could not make this pointer heard by the world communists as we did not have that strength.
We all now know how a disaster was consequently brought in the world communist movement leading to its being in complete disarray. But the redeeming feature is that in many countries of the world, the communist parties and groups are again developing which can provide a correct vision and guidance to the toiling masses and once again become a formidable force if these are developed on correct understanding of Marxism-Leninism with its correct application in present day conditions.
We like to work together to this end. Let us continue exchanges. Send your publications, statements and the congress documents. We shall also do the same. With Revolutionary Greetings—
Provash Ghosh
General Secretary
Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist)
