Hundreds of workers of the SUCI (C), Delhi marched from Mandi House to the American Center, KG Marg, New Delhi today to protest against the US engineered coup attempt in Venezuela and setting up of a puppet president, Juan Guaido, with a view to dislodge democratically elected President Maduro from power. As the police did not allow the demonstrators to go up to the American Center, the rally turned into a public meeting which was addressed by Comrades Rajinder Singh, IS Raathi and Ramphal Suhag from Haryana, Com. Vijay Pal Singh from UP and Comrade RK Parasher from Delhi. Com. Pran Sharma Secretary, SUCI(C), Delhi was the main speaker on the occasion.
The speakers stated that the imperialist powers have been trying to dominate and control Venezuela which has the largest oil reserves in the world. The oil fields earlier controlled by the US companies were nationalized after the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela was founded in 1999 under the leadership of President Hugo Chavez. Since then the imperialist powers are trying to destabilize the government by slapping economic sanctions, interfering in its internal matters and spreading lies and slanders. After the untimely death of President Chavez in 2013 the imperialist powers headed by USA have been making all-out efforts to overthrow the government headed by President Maduro who succeeded President Chavez. However, in a free, fair, transparent, peaceful and democratic election President Nicolás Maduro was re-elected president of Venezuela on May 20, 2018 for a six-year term, with an overwhelming 68 percent of the votes cast. Despite his clear and clean election, Venezuela and its Boliviarian government were immediately denounced by U.S. imperialism and its reactionary allies in Latin America and Europe. The speakers stated that the so called “pro-democracy mass-movement”, as depicted by western media, is organized from outside, feeding the disgruntled elements trained by US rulers. These forces are working in Venezuela since long, bringing about the downfall of the economy through monetary and oil price manipulation from outside and from within, the speakers stated. Such interventions have nothing to do with democracy, but the sole aim is to strengthen US hegemony and tyranny.
Com. Pran Sharma, the main speaker on the occasion, referred to the unending market crisis of the capitalist-imperialist system which had made the system moribund. He stated that world capitalist system is incapable of solving any problems of the society and for its survival it is fast militarizing its economies which drives it to war for re-division of markets. He stated that this system needs to be replaced by the socialist system which alone can solve all the problems of the society. For this it is necessary, on the one hand, to build up a real revolutionary party capable of leading the revolution in individual countries, and on the other, to build up strong, militant anti-imperialist peace movement internationally. He appealed to all not to be deceived by the false propaganda of USA and rise up in protest against the manipulations of the US imperialists and stand firmly by the Venezuelan masses who are struggling to protect their sovereignty.
Later a delegation led by Com. KC Tiwari, Member, Delhi State Organizing Committee, SUCI(C), handed over a Memorandum addressed to the US President, to the US authorities at the American Center, Delhi.
