Strongly condemning the brutal attack by the police killing three persons, injuring and arresting hundreds of people Shri Provash Ghosh, General Secretary of SUCI (Communist) has issued the following statement on 20 December 2019.
It is evidently clear that the most undemocratic, anti-people and communally motivated scheme of NRC and CAA hatched by the BJP-led central Government has been rejected by the people. Already spontaneous and continuing waves of mass movements are bursting forth throughout the country involving all sections of people who are braving police atrocities in demand of immediate withdrawal of NRC and CAA.
We hail the courage and undaunted spirit reflected in this struggle particularly by the students and the intellectuals. We urge upon the fighting people to continue the struggle with renewed vigour and also taking up the burning issues such as unemployment, retrenchment and price hikes.
We appeal to the people to form struggle committees and to enlist volunteers in the localities and institutions to conduct a sustained, disciplined, well organized movement which alone can compel the government to accept the demands of the people.
