Shri Provash Ghosh, General Secretary, SUCI(C), has issued the following statement today:–
Yesterday, Prime Minister Modi led BIP government issued a notification that only on suspicion of treachery,10 agencies empowered by the govt can intercept monitor and encrypt any information a citizen of India stored in his computer. The service providers are liable to share the information. It is clearly a brazen attack on the privacy of a citizen and smacks of fascistic design. The information technology act by which the present Modi govt is trying to destroy the private space of a citizen was enacted in 2009 by the previous congress led UPA government which proves that whichever bourgeois party sits in power takes recourse to spying the citizen in order to save itself from people`s wrath.
We demand that the decision be withdrawn immediately and appeal to the people to raise the voice of protest against this anti-people decision of BJP government.
