Strongly condemning the continuing widespread communal killings and Arson in Manipur resulting in complete disruption of people’s life in Manipur since 3rd May, 2023 Shri Provash Ghosh, General Secretary, SUCI (Communist), has issued the following statement on 26.06.2023.
“With grave concern we note that the deadly communal flare up that erupted in Manipur from 3rd May 2023, with the preplanned and full-fledged support of both central BJP Government and the state BJP Government. Hundreds of people lost their lives and while few thousands are displaced. Wide spread arson continues. With deep indignation we note while the state is burning BJP-led central government continues to remain almost mute spectator. Prime Minister Narendra Modi even could not pronounce a single sentence of ‘concern’. In perpetuation of its policy of divide and rule and development vote bank central government intentionally allowing this communal conflict to continue. It is nothing but playing with the life of common people irrespective of caste, creed, ethnicity and religion. While we strongly condemn this indulgent attitude of both the central BJP Government and state BJP Government, we once again demand that they quell this communal flare up with a strong hand which they can within hours if they so wish, in order to save common peoples precious lives for restoration of peace and bringing back normalcy. We also call upon all sections of the peace loving people of Manipur to close their ranks and defeat and isolate the separatist, chauvinist, the arch communal forces from the people and pave the path of development of united democratic movements centering round their common burning demands bringing in its wake firm unity and fraternity involving all sections of the people of Manipur.
We call upon the people of India to observe 30 June, 2023 as a PROTEST DAY against the conniving role of the government in this bloodbath in Manipur.”
