Joint Committee of Trade Unions (JCTU) Karnataka Unit had given a call to organize ‘‘Industrial Strike’’ on 23rd March 2023, opposing the amendments to Factories Act brought by the BJP -run state government.
Industrial Strike was successfully organized by the joint efforts of all Trade unions. JCTU had also organized a massive protest meeting at Freedom Park, Bangalore on the same day. Thousands of members of different trade unions had taken part in the protest meeting against the amendments to Factories Act, i.e., Increasing working hours up to 12 hours per day and allowing women workers in night shifts in factories. Comrade K. Somashekhar, Karnataka State President, AIUTUC addressed the gathering on behalf of AIUTUC.
