
Human sacrifice at Elanthoor in Kerala. Huge protest meet in front of the secretariat on behalf of AIMSS Kerala state committee demanding legislation to ban superstitions and witchcraft.
There was an incident in Kerala where two women who earned their livelihood by selling lotteries were killed for witchcraft . AIMSS organised protest programmes against this incident in some districts and a protest meet in front of the secretariat.
After the first woman went missing a complaint was filed with the police but there was no response from the police. Had the police acted responsibly the second woman could have been saved.
This incident of human sacrifice created protest and concern all over Kerala. AIMSS organised protest programmes raising the following demands.
- A thorough and honest investigation should be conducted in to the incident of human sacrifice.
- Enact legislation banning superstitions and witchcraft.
- Conduct thorough investigations into the man missing cases occurred so far
4 . Ensure the social security of women.
The protest meet in front of the secretariat was inaugurated by com. Shyla. K. John all india vice president AIMSS. Such incidents can be prevented only if scientific thinking and awareness is developed in the society. She told in her inaugural speech.
