A convention on problems of education in Tripura was organised by All India Save Education Committee, Tripura Unit on 26 June last at Agartala. Well-known educationists and intellectuals of the state, including Kamal Roy Chaudhury, a re-knowned playwright and educationist, Dr. Pranab Bardhan , Dr. Alak Satpati, Shri Hara Kisore Bhaumik and student leader Shri Ramprasad Acharjee strongly criticised the central and state governments for their anti-people education policies and the Tripura Board of Secondary Education for their repeated irregularities in publication of different board examinations. They lamented fall of standard of education in government schools mainly due to No Detention policy, which in turn is leading to flourish of education under private sector. They appealed to education loving people to build up movement, including on demand of reintroducing Pass- Fail system from Class I
