Strongly condemning the passing of the “Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill- 2020” and Farmers produce trade and commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Fair Services Bill 2020 Sri Provash Ghosh, General Secretary, SUCI (Communist) has issued the following statement on 18th September, 2020.
“This is nothing but a heinous attack on the Indian peasants with a view to strengthen the hands of the corporate sharks of home and abroad by removing all pulses, cereals, oilseeds, onion and potato from coverage under essential commodities. Moreover, through these bills the BJP government is handing over entire infrastructure as well food chain to the corporates which will jeopardize not only the interest of the peasants but also the interest of the people at large. By these three draconic Bills the BJP government is pushing and forcing the peasantry to enter into contractual farming with the multinationals which will ultimately result in complete ruination of the peasantry more particularly the small and middle peasant. Already more than four lacs peasants and agricultural labourers had committed suicide. No doubt this policy will push peasantry more towards self-destruction and self-annihilation while enriching the rich peasantry and MNCS of the whole world.
In this scenario AIKSCC, of which AIKKMS is an important constituent, has called for All India Rural Bandh on 25th September, 2020 to build up peasants’ resistance movement. Against these three anti-people, anti-peasantry Bill while extending full support this Bandh on 25th September, 2020 and we urge upon the people to come out to force the Government to withdrawal these anti-people and anti-peasants Bills forth with.
