Sri Sankar Saha, General Secretary, AIUTUC has issued the following statement on countrywide General Strike on 8th January, 2020 convened by 10 Central Trade Unions & Federations :
“We call upon the working people of the country to participate in the nationwide General Strike scheduled on 8th January, 2020 to intensify the ongoing united movement on 12 point demands and continue the struggle ahead to force the Govt. of India to scrap anti-worker amendment of Labour Laws and rescind pro-capitalist policies in all sectors. We also call upon them to raise united voice against NRC-CAA-NPR and brutal attack in various ways let loose by BJP Govt. on the movement of different sections of people including students of JNU, other universities and colleges against such nefarious policies aimed at religious divide of the people with a view to distract/divert growing movement of the entire working class fraternity.”
