Sanyukt Kishan Mancha (SKM), which has been providing leadership to the historic peasant movement, gave a call to observe 31 January 2022 as ‘‘Betrayal Day’’ since the BJP led central government which was compelled to repeal the three Black Farm Laws under pressure of the movement, is not acceding to other demands like legalization of MSP, withdrawal of Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021, adequate compensation to the members of the martyrs of the movement, withdrawal of all cases slapped on the fighting peasants and removing the union home minister of state from the cabinet for abetting Lakhimpur Kheri killings. AIKKMS, an important constituent of SKM, observed the Day in various states of the country.
